Large-Scale Print Installation for Kvam VGS — Electro department

A monumental green curtain stretches across the walls of two shared spaces in the electro department at Kvam VGS.

These areas—Zone 5 and Zone 8—are designed
as places for students to unwind and connect between lessons, and the artwork plays directly into that atmosphere of pause and imagination.

At first glance, the curtain appears almost sculptural, as if it has been draped over a rugged rock wall. From a distance, the folds and shadows seem three-dimensional, spilling over stones and cascading down the stairs. But when you move closer and sit along the steps, the illusion dissolves: the curtain is entirely two-dimensional, a printed artwork integrated seamlessly into the architecture.

Up close, a hidden world begins to emerge. Tiny insects—bugs, spiders, and fantastical creatures assembled from electronic components—inhabit the gaps between the rocks and nestle into the folds of the fabric.
Some float in the darker corners, forming an eerie and unexpected ecosystem. What first appears to be a natural landscape reveals itself, on closer inspection, as an artificial world where even the rocks seem to require wired connections to remain alive.

As an animation artist, I develop my concepts through narrative, colour, movement, and depth. This installation grew from the idea of creating a visual story that unfolds gradually, inviting viewers to look closer and discover more. All drawings and textures are created by hand using aquarelle on paper before being digitally assembled into the final large-format print.

Each zone presents its own distinct environment:

  • The Green-scape at Zone 8 features a lush moss-and-stone landscape, dominated by the green curtain motif.

  • The Sea-scape  at Zone 5, which opens toward a fjord view through a large window, shifts the theme into a seascape. Here, sea creatures inspired by ancient mythology—and reimagined with electronic elements—emerge from the depths.

This dual installation transforms the everyday spaces of the school into immersive visual stories, blending nature, technology, and imagination.
